See Strulch At BBC Gardeners World 12th-16th June on the Smallest Show Garden Ever!
SMALLEST SHOW GARDEN EVER FOR BBC GARDENERS WORLD LIVE
From the largest show garden ever built in 2006 (1000m2) award winning garden designer John Cavill, high quality landscaper Dean Brown and cottage nursery owner Karen Prince have got together to make the smallest show garden ever in the form of a border (named Birmingham Borders) this year at BBC Gardeners World Live.
Sponsoring the triple design team is Strulch organic mulch and Neil Wilkin glass who produces delightful glass flowers for the garden and will be adding another dimension to the border to wow show visitors.
Even though the total border size is just 7.5 square meters there is no lack of enthusiasm from the team and they have plants already laid out at the Laburnum plant centre in Barton upon Humber, North Lincolnshire. John Cavill said "it's a very serious business getting it all just right, plants that wow, delight and make visitors smile coupled with glass flowers that are so exquisite they reflect the sky and the plants around them"
The border theme is a corner garden and the team are hoping that visitors copy the planting collection and take the design home to their own gardens to add the wow factor. The borders are judged and medals can be won, so fingers crossed they will win over the admiration of the judges and be awarded a medal for their efforts.
After the show the whole border is for sale, it will be priced at cost and if anyone is interested John & Dean will take it from the show and replant it in its entirety in a corner of your garden.
The team are also having a little fun at the show and have also taken on a doorstep challenge planting either side of a door painted by the students of Birmingham City University. Ten doorways altogether will be planted and although not in the running for any medals, they have a serious collection of plants to show off!
