At Strulch we are always delighted when a new garden centre joins as a stockist. Today we welcome Shannon’s Garden Centre who are based in Forest Hill, South-East London, as one of our new stockists.
The founder of Shannon’s Garden Centre, Henry Shannon originally started in business as a landscaper but after dreaming of owning his own garden centre he built Shannon’s Garden Centre on land in Forest Hill in 1989. Much like ourselves, Shannon’s Garden Centre has a good reputation and loyal customers.
On my recent shopping trip to Waitrose supermarket I picked up a copy of their Garden Magazine. On page entitled 'Doing it Organically' there is a paragraph titled ' Mulch Your Way to Success'
It says " A mulch of home-made compost or manure is soon taken down into the soil by worms' improving the soil's structure and organic content. A thick layer helps retain moisture and suppress annual weeds too. Strulch from 9.99 per square metre waitrosegarden.com, a great mulching material made from wheat straw can be used in flower beds as well as in the kitchen garden"
Really pleased to have the mention and its good to know that if there isn't a stockist near you that Strulch can be bought on line.
Easter is early this year and although we had a glorious day yesterday in Yorkshire its downhill today- cooler and wet! Glad we got out in the garden yesterday and made the most of the sunny day. I have been on a plant buying spree! I am glad we took some photos of our garden in full bloom last year. That way I could see where the spaces are! I am a self-confessed 'plantaholic' so I can always squeeze in a few more in.
Today J Segar of Warwickshire shares his wonderful testimonial of our Strulch garden mulch.
We live in a barn in the Midlands, on a ridge between Stratford-on-Avon and Worcester. There was no planting here when we moved in, and Jane has worked tirelessly to transform it into a much admired garden.
One problem that we have gardening here is that we are surrounded by fields. It sounds idyllic, and it probably would be, if those who own the fields on either side actually did something with them. Actually, they do - they grow weeds. The strong wind (we live on the side of a hill) means that our garden gets vastly more than its fair share of weed seeds, and they seem to be ecstatically happy about the prospect of growing.
We regularly receive glowing testimonials about our Strulch, garden mulch. We were delighted when Sandy and Penny of Terstan Garden in Hampshire shared their great experiences when using Strulch in their garden.
Terstan Garden (Hampshire) has been made by Sandy and Penny Burnfield over more than 40 years, starting from a wilderness of rank weeds and household rubbish. An acre of ground has been slowly developed around a small brick cottage. The result is a spectacular garden in a beautiful setting with profuse, colourful and exuberant planting. Penny is an artist and writer and she has an eye for design, colour and texture.
