Next year we shall be hosting the prestigious Tour de France in Britian. As part of the celebrations the RHS is suggesting that we turn the country yellow with a special planting scheme. What a great idea and good to plan ahead.

I hear that The Lord Mayors parade in London on 9th November will feature cyclists from clubs from the route. Our good friend Paul Corcoran will be in the parade with two club members riding the famous 'Pennine' bike ftrom Pennine Cycles in Bradford. A brand launched in the 1960s and still going strong.
I was intrigued to read this artice in The Daily Mail. I think we all dislike slugs in our garden but this variety also eats agricultural crops that native slugs leave alone. if you spot them in your garden notify slugwatch.co.uk :
'Scientists are appealing to the public to help track down a giant slug which has been invading Britain from Spain.
The Spanish slug is thought to have arrived here on salad leaves but has bred rapidly - laying up to 400 eggs each - threatening British crops.
'The invasion has been slowed by frosts in May which killed thousands of them, but scientists are so concerned they have launched slugwatch.co.uk and are asking the public to help track them.

The editor of The English Garden, Tamsin Westhorpe, had recommended Strulch to me when I spoke to her earlier in the year. Both my gardeners have been delighted with the results, hence a second order! We occasionally have the garden open for charity and quite a few visitors have asked about it and we have given them a glowing report!
With all good wishes for succesful sales!
